Optimum infrastructure in the centre of Schleswig-Holstein

The economic area is characterised by its strategic location on the Kiel Canal, one of the world's busiest waterways. The location is home to both the modern heavy goods port and the Rendsburg district port, which specialises in handling bulk goods.

Location factors

  • Rates of assessment from 415-638%
  • Direct connection to the A7 motorway (15.5 km), A210 (3 km) and the B77 (1 km) and B202 federal highways
  • Close to the state capital Kiel, Hamburg and the Scandinavian markets
  • 15 ha of immediately available commercial space near the harbour

Optimum transport connections to land

Rendsburg Port offers excellent accessibility by land. The nearby A7 motorway junction and the A210 ensure fast connections to regional and national markets. Hamburg Airport can be reached in around 60 minutes. The neighbouring Rendsburg Port Süd industrial estate complements the location's advantages with modern infrastructure and a strategic location that is well suited to companies with European and global logistics requirements.

Efficient hub between the North Sea and Baltic Sea

The Kiel Canal connects the North Sea and the Baltic Sea and offers direct access to the most important European ports - from the western EU ports to the Scandinavian and Baltic ports. The heavy load port has a 300 metre long quay with tide-independent water depths of 9.5 metres, which means that both large seagoing vessels and inland vessels can be loaded and unloaded efficiently. The sheltered location in wind zone 3 reduces the effects of the weather and therefore offers better conditions for handling processes compared to the German North Sea coast (wind zone 4).

Ideal location for future-orientated industries

The district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde combines traditional economic sectors such as agriculture and the maritime industry with future-orientated industries. Companies from the fields of renewable energies, information and communication technology and sustainable tourism benefit from the strategic location and regional networks. With the heavy load port for project cargo, containers and heavy goods as well as the district port for bulk goods, the location offers a wide range of logistics options for established and specialised companies.
